Extension overview

What the Lark browser extension does and which browsers it runs in.

The Lark extension puts a save button in your browser toolbar. Click it on any page and Lark saves the link, writes a short summary, and files it into a collection for you. It also notices when a site publishes a feed you can subscribe to, and it can put an article on your reading list without leaving the page.

What it does

  • Save the page you are on. One click opens a small panel with a preview; a second click saves. See Saving pages.
  • Read later. On article pages the panel offers a Read later button that adds the page to your reading list. See Read later and feeds.
  • Subscribe to feeds. When a page links to an RSS or Atom feed, the extension offers to subscribe, and the toolbar icon shows that a feed is available.
  • Show what Lark already knows. Land on a page you saved before and the toolbar icon says so. Opening the panel shows the summary, collection, and tags Lark stored.

Supported browsers

The extension is built for Chrome and Firefox. Store listings are on their way; Install the extension has the current details. There is no Safari or Edge build yet.

What it deliberately leaves out

The extension is meant to stay out of your way, so a few things you might expect are not there:

  • No settings page. There is nothing to configure. Connecting your account happens automatically; see Connecting your account.
  • No keyboard shortcut. Saving is always a click on the toolbar icon.
  • No right-click menu entries.
  • No popup window. Everything happens in a panel drawn inside the page itself, which is why it looks the same in every browser.
